Concordances based on POPE-KANAZAWA 1978, 602. Plainchant intonation of "Magnificat" in the Altus; complete text. Four couples of verses are sung on the same music ("Et exultavit" / "Fecit potentiam"; "Quia respexit" / "Deposuit"; "Quia fecit" / "Esurientes"; "Et misericordia" / "Suscepit Israel"). Based both on the third and the fourth Magnificat tones (NATVIG 1999, 271). Ascribed to Du Fay in I-MC 871; the attribution to Busnoys or an imitator proposed by NATVIG 1999 is based on stylistical reasons. According to Besseler (CMM 1.5, iii), this Magnificat is "certainly a creation of Dufay himself". The attribution to Du Fay is accepted by PLANCHART 2018. The Tenor section corresponding to the verses "Et misericordia" and "Suscepit Israel" has been copied on a slice of paper wrongly inserted between ff. 8v and 9r (instead of ff. 9v-10r).
